Jeux de l’Acadie
The Jeux de l’Acadie are an annual competition created in 1979 in Atlantic Canada. The Games aim to gather Acadian youth around sporting competitions and cultural activities, while promoting the French language and Acadian culture.
Every year, Nova Scotian youth from 12 to 16 years old take part in the regional games in May, aiming to qualify for the Jeux de l’Acadie finals, which take place in one of the Atlantic provinces at the end of June.
These games have become a strong symbol of Acadian cultural and athletic vitality, involving thousands of volunteers and participants every year.

Trail Minor Hockey Association
An organization dedicated to minor hockey, which is ideal for introducing children to hockey or improving their skills. Matches and training sessions take place in a friendly, community atmosphere.

Les Amis du Plein Air
A local group that organizes a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, cross-country skiing and cycling. It manages the regional annual Terry Fox Run, which takes place on a hiking trail in the heart of Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
Their commitment to nature is reflected in the improvement and development of four major hiking trails: the Skyline Trail, the Buttereau Trail, the Jack Pine Trail, and the Coastal Trail. These trails are enriched by interpretive panels that share local history, adding to the experience.

Arts and crafts
Les Trois Pignons: This cultural centre contains a museum and an art gallery, and provides a unique perspective on Acadian culture and Chéticamp’s history. The centre is home to an impressive collection of hooked rugs, antiques, a genealogy centre, and a library. It is also a visitor information centre.

The cultural centre belongs to Société Saint-Pierre, a non-profit organization that works to develop an Acadian and Francophone community that is keen to experience its language and culture, day in, day out.
Société Saint-Pierre works in partnership with various other organizations for community development, as well as for cultural programming for the community, such as the annual Festival de l’Escaouette.

Société Mi-Carême: This centre celebrates the Acadian tradition of Mi-Carême (“Mid-Lent”) through interactive exhibits, artistic workshop (handmade masks), and community activities.
Mi-Carême (“Mid-Lent”) is a fun and friendly carnival celebration, where the runners dress up (video How to dress for Mi-Carême) and kindly challenge others, called the “Watcheux,” to guess their identity. The Mi-Carême celebration also involves a certain liberating aspect, inviting participants to break free from daily routines and change their personality, all while spreading smiles around them!

These days, runners meet up with the watcheux at a pre-arranged location: Centre d’Interprétation de la Mi-Carême! Conseil des Arts de Chéticamp (“Chéticamp Arts Council”): The Council works to promote Acadian culture in Nova Scotia through a variety of activities such as arts workshops, cultural events, and arts training. This organization offers painting workshops, dance lessons, theatrical performances, music concerts, and many other cultural events, in keeping with the region’s rich Acadian heritage.
The Conseil des Arts regularly puts on performances throughout the year, featuring local and international artists and promoting Acadian culture and heritage.
